Lead, Kindly Light by Simon Dewey

"Lead, Kindly Light, amidst th'encircling gloom,
Lead Thou me on.
The night is dark, and I am far from home,
Lead Thou me on.
Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene; one step enough for me."
---Lead, Kindly Light by John Henry

"There are many beautiful representations of Christ the Savior as our light, but the simply and poignant symbol of Him leading us down the darkened  and narrow path of life is one that I have often drawn comfort from.
"To me, the verses of the beloved 1833 Hymn, Lead, Kindly Light, capture perfectly the trials of life's journey, the comfort of His guidance, and the need for faith in every footstep along the way. The words of this hymn inspired me to create this painting."
